It wasn't easy to get here, but I'm so thankful I made the journey to the beautiful country of Panama! This tiny painting is another tribute to the awesome vistas that influence me here. No, I don't live by the beach in a cute little hut, but I did get to spend some time in one, and of course I had to immortalize it with paint!
Preparing the Canvas
Applied one coat of Liquitex white gesso with a Princeton Select 2" flat brush.
Drew my design in HB pencil.
Applied another coat of gesso.
Drawing the Complete Image
Drew out complete image with black 0.7mm Posca marker.
Adding Color
Added blue for waterfall and ocean.
Used green Posca marker for plants and trees.
Added yellow for additional visual interest.
Used white to add shine and mist to waterfall.
Used red to make volcano look menacing.
Added pink to sky, some plants, and doors of huts.
Finalizing Details
Solidified details by going over most areas again with the black Posca marker.
Final Considerations on Varnishing
Would choose a semi-gloss spray varnish for final finish.
